I don’t know how the weather has been where you are, but here it has been raining. A LOT!!
Since we can’t do a whole lot outside, today I told the kids we were going to have an “at home movie theater.” They were super excited and we really had a LOT of fun getting it ready.
Get some snacks like pretzels, crackers, popcorn, raisins, apples, etc. Put them in little bowls or baggies and then put little price tags on them or have the children make a sign telling how much each snack will cost. If the children are younger, maybe keep it to pennies. (Each snack could be 3 pennies)
Also find some kind of fun drink. (Juice boxes, Sippy cup with juice or milk in it, etc.)
Put a price on these or add them to your sign of how much everything costs.
Next, have the kids cut out and color some “tickets” and put on your sign how much it will cost to buy a ticket to get into the “movie theater.”
The kids can also make a sign, drawing a picture of the movie that will be playing. (Whatever you can think of to keep them busy before the "show" starts)
Set up your TV room so the kids have pillows to sit on and lots of blankets. (To keep carpet clean) And find a fun movie your children have not seen in a while.
Put all of the snacks on a nearby table or counter and give the children some money to pay for their “trip to the movies.” (If you have a play cash register, you could use that at the ticket counter as well)
It is a good way for kids to learn money values and counting. Plus it is just a lot of fun on a cold and rainy day. :)

How fun! We're going to a theater for the first time this weekend, so my kids will probably get even more jazzed about doing this at home after!
what a great idea!
